Patricia G. Cyphers, 91
PITTSFIELD, MASS. — Patricia G. Cyphers, 91, of Hancock Point passed away peacefully Monday,
April 15, 2013, after a long Illness. She was born July 28, 1921, in West Orange, N.J., to the
late Kenneth and Anita (Yereance) Girdwood.

She was married to the late Howard E. Cyphers on Aug. 20, 1944. Patricia was a longtime
resident of Hancock Point, devoting many years of community service to the American Red Cross,
Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Hancock Woman’s Club, Hancock Volunteer Police Department,
Hancock Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Hancock Point Village Improvement Society, League
of Women Voters, USO and the Navy League. In 1999, she was honored as the Hancock County Citizen
of the Year in recognition of the lifelong commitment to sharing and volunteerism. Patricia was
a 1944 graduate of Russell Sage College in Try, N.Y. With a degree in physical education, she
taught for many years before her retirement.

Patricia is survived by her children, Karen Burgoyne (Scott) of Wynantskill, N.Y., and Richard
Cray Cyphers (Lisa) of Buffalo, N.Y. Patricia is also survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie
Mize (Chris) of Burlington, N.C., Kerry Grass (Jeff) of Richmondville, N.Y., and Madison Cyphers
of Charlotte, N.C. She will also be missed by her seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be planned this summer at Hancock Point. In lieu
